Discount Calculator
Calculate how much you save during a sale and estimate the final price after discount and sales tax. Use it for clearance deals, coupons, seasonal sales, and price comparisons.
Formula
Savings = original price × discount rate Discounted price = original price - savings Final price = discounted price + estimated tax
Example
If an item costs $120 and is 25% off, the savings are $30 and the discounted price is $90 before tax. If sales tax is 8.25%, the final estimated price is $97.43.
Shopping notes
- Some stores apply coupons before tax, while others follow local rules or special item rules.
- Shipping, handling, deposits, and membership discounts are not included.
- For stacked coupons, calculate one discount first, then use the discounted price as the next original price.
FAQ
Can I enter 0 for sales tax?
Yes. Use 0 if you only want the sale price before tax or if the purchase is not taxed.
Is 50% off twice the same as 100% off?
No. Two sequential 50% discounts reduce the price to 25% of the original price, not zero.
Does this handle coupon stacking automatically?
No. Apply each discount in sequence by re-entering the new discounted price.
